About the Charity
Bhola Garden is run by WOD Trust, a charity registered in Bangladesh (WOD = Welfare for Orphan and Disabled). Bhola’s Children is WOD Trust’s only source of funds.
Immediately prior to the formation of the charity the ad hoc donors provided funds to finance the transfer of the ownership of Bhola Garden to WOD Trust. These ad hoc donors included some of the current trustees, a group of Swedish families, Swiss and Spanish donors.
A significant sum was then needed to cover the refurbishment of the premises and purchase of a new generator. Bhola’s Children ran an initial fund-raising campaign to cover this plus the first year’s running costs. Further fund-raising will be required both for specific projects and to cover increased running costs as the facilities expand.
Initially much of the funding of the charity has come from the trustees and the ad hoc donors but the trustees are now looking to widen the donor base, particularly of regular donors, to enable this expansion to proceed. Approaches have also been made to relavant trusts and foundations for support.
