Cyclone Latest

On 15th November Tropical Cyclone Sidr hit the southwest of Bangladesh and travelled up through Barisal to Dhaka causing immense damage and the worst loss of life since Cyclone Gorky in 1991. This time the centre of the storm passed just to the west of Bhola. At Bhola Garden falling trees damaged the children’s accommodation building, the workshop and the perimeter wall. But fortunately nobody was hurt, as everybody was sheltering in the office building which is more solidly built.

This time Bhola Garden was lucky. But it underlines the importance of completing the new accommodation block and workshop (which will be of more solid construction) before the 2008 cyclone season."
